Mailing lists coming soon!

Apparently a new version of this threaded messaging software will be out in the next day or two that will support mailing lists. I'm not exactly sure how will work, but I'm guessing that a user can specify they want to be on the list for a forum and will then receive e-mail of new posts. If they reply, the reply will be added here and echoed to mailing list subscribers.
Just thought I would let you know about what's up and coming.

I know i am going to ask you lot of question about you're site. As you must be knowing that i am working on a Java Version of this Discussion Forum and I am going through all the threads to gather information of what is going on.
In this thread you have talked about mailing list. What is that. I have subscribed to javaranch and i keep on getting reqular mail from you about free book if we participate in the forum. Is this what you were talking about. Pls let me know. Thanks

The mailings that you get are the feature I was talking about here.
At least what we have now is what they were talking about back then. I was hoping for something different. I was hoping for something where people could subsribe to a list and then get new posting to a forum via e-mail. If they replied to the postings, their reply would appear in a forum.

I would say that it is a nice idea. And i would like to work on it. Right now i am busy with other work. And This could be one of the extra features that i could include in what i am making. In short i will work on "you're Dreams".
Apart from javaranch i also surf another site name www.pune-java.com. In this all the discussion takes place through e-mail. Have a look at the site. And if you wish to try for its subscription then i would suggest that you make separate e-mail account only to receive mail from this site. As you will get load of mail. This site use help of Topic News Group. So

I am familiar with the pune-java list. I've been subscribed a time or two in the past. Right now, I am far too busy to even take a close look at the JavaRanch forums!
