The Camel website says it can be used with libraries like Apache Active MQ. Can it be used with other libraries well? For example, can you substitute a commercial API into it. Would you even want to?

Camel is frequently used to connect different components together, including components supported for commercial APIs. However, the components need to be developed first. For example, you really couldn't use the features of Camel with Facebook without a Facebook component. Luckily, a Facebook component was just added!

Thanks for the question.

So the provider adds a Camel API and then you can use it?

For best clarity, it's best if I just point to the "Writing Components" webpage of the Apache Camel website:

http://camel.apache.org/writing-components.html.

Thanks for the question!
