iReport subreport with Double type parameter

I am trying to generate a subreport, with a Double datatype as one of the parameters.
But when I try to include it in the select * from table i get an error:
General problem:SOurced file: inline evaluation of: ``bshCalculator.evaluate(85):": nullCheck username and password: is the DBMS active?
Of course is active. As soon as I take the $P{NumEmployee} the subreport works nicely.
I am using Oracle 8i.
