Hi Otis, I agree that it might be more adequate for meaningless drivel forum, but I am a bit curious. As a Lucene core developer. How does one feel, when on bile blog is written:
[compared to other Jakarta projects] Lucene is a worthy exception; how those lucene devs sleep at night while being part of such an embarrassingly incompetent organisation is fast becoming a modern day mystery of epic proportions.
? Is this one feels a bit proud of? Or have you even known before reading this? Or is it more like take note and shrug of shoulders? Axel

Axel, I don't read that person's blog regularly, but I somehow did stumble across that particular post. I would take judgements of Jakarta with a grain of salt, although it is true that Lucene is a remarkably stable and solid open-source project (not just within Apache Jakarta). In my opinion, this is primarily due to great leadership of Lucene's creator, Doug Cutting. Otis

Hey - I'm a Lucene committer too! And I'm also quite proud to be a member of the Apache Software Foundation and on the Jakarta and Ant PMC. Apache is a massive, and certainly not cohesive, community. But it works, and it works quite well.

I guess this is the story with all communities. Some sides are up, some are down. I don't even see a gain in criticizing the others, but only to learn how not to do the same mistakes. -- ./pope
