Apart form all the obvious starting points you get by searching for "example web service Java", you could read up on WS in the WebServicesFaq.

My next question is what is the difference between web application and web services ?

also can we deploy the web services same as web application.

"What is" type of questions are generally best handled by Wikipedia, or a web search of the question: web application, web service, difference between web application and web service

also can we deploy the web services same as web application.

All Java WS implementations I've encountered (Axis, Axis2, Jersey, JAX-WS RI, etc.) are based on the Servlet API, and as such can be part of a standard Java web app.
