I'm trying to get up and running with JasperReports, but I'm finding the documentation lacking.

Where I'm stuck right now is creating a custom data source. I plan to use JasperAssistant to layout the report, so that shouldn't pose a problem.

It looks like I want to implement JRDataSource, but I'm not really sure how the JRField gets used.

Does anybody know of any material that would help me out.

It looks like they have an 'Ultimate Guide' for sale, but it's not available right now.
