I have absolutely no idea about how to resolve my problem. So I'm looking for pieces of advice or solution.
I'm transforming some XML file to PDF using xslfo and fop (with java).
The fact is that I have some characters which are not rendered by default helvetica font.
This characters are ς f ffi ff ffl fifl ♪ .
But one thing important is that I would like not to change the font for other characters. I want my PDF to stay in helvetica.
I was wondering if there was a possibility to create a kind of priority list for fonts on rendering characters. So that when the transformation by default on every character Helvetica is the default one, but if something wrong happens it uses any other given fonts which take into account those characters.
Try this approach out? In the (immediate, in order not to disturb the rest) container of the text, such as fo:block or else, add explicitly a font-family attribute with comma delimited family-name(s) with Helvetica listed first... And then add another attribute font-selection-strategy with value "character-by-character". See how it goes?
