server restart upon xml changes

Can anyone tell me that do we need to restart the websphere server7 everytime we make changes upon xml in servers folder?

I think it's not a must but you should. Because with a fresh restart, the server will definitely take the changes into effect.

Thanks..bt is there any other way to reflect the changes which i made in the xmls.What I want is to reflect the changes upon xml without restarting the server.Is it possible?

From my brief googling, if you change configurations that are "server" related eg resources then it requires restart.

This link provides the WAS important files.

For better reference do consult the WAS admin guide.
