hi,
I am surprised to see no Solr or Lucene forum on JavaRanch. i think it would be nice and helpful to have these forums.

I agree with you.
I remember there use to be one forum for Search (for Lucene technolgies). It seem like that forum has faded out.

There never was a forum specifically for Lucene - those questions always went to the "Other Open Source Projects" forum. That forum would also be appropriate for Solr - we don't get that many questions about Solr to justify its own forum.

Correct. Yes , I can now remember that we use to post Lucene related queries in that "Other Open Source" forum.
