HTMLLayout problem

fallowing is the properteis file of log4j i am using
when layout i am using HTMLLayout its not backing up old file i.e after 10kb
if am commenting the html layout its working fine ?


log4j.rootCategory=debug, stdout, R
log4j.category.your.category.name=WARN
log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
