Does the book at any point focus on pattern-orientation.
By this I mean details on industry-wide patterns for development and architecting software.

Hi Michael ... I'm afraid not. My book is about software architecture practices ("just enough" up front design, communication through simple sketches and taking a risk-driven approach) rather than looking at patterns and technologies. Thankfully there are lots of great patterns books out there already.
