browsers-Email issues

I am facing one problem in my application. We have onc "contact" dropdown. while clicking on it, we can see one link i.e mailto: Clicking on this link on IE is opening the installed mail application having email id on its "to" list. at the same time, it is leaving our application also. Ideally it should open mailbox aplication (whatever installed on our machine ex: outlook, lotus notes) but it shouod not leave our current application. clicking the same email id on firefox and chrome is working fine..

I don't understand what you mean by "leave our current application". When I clicked on your sample link (in Firefox) the Ranch disappeared and GMail's New Message window appeared. That looked like "leaving" the Ranch to me; however my guess is that it's possible to have mailto links open in a new window just as you can have HTTP links open in a new window. Did you already try that, and it didn't use a new window?
