Since this is likely to be a FAQ, pre-posting the question/answer.

As of March, the beta runs until April 12, 2014. Results will be out approximately 11 weeks after that.

Oracle may change this. If anyone sees the date change, post in this thread.

Oracle just told me they've extended this exam until at least May...

From Oracle:

The "Java EE 6 JavaServer Faces Developer Certified Expert Exam" Certification Exam (1Z1-896) will be available February 15, 2014 in beta testing at the greatly discounted rate of $50 USD. Passing this exam results in the new certification: Oracle Certified Expert, Java EE 6 JavaServer Faces Developer.

Here is a "sneak peak" at what will be covered on the exam:

Section 1: Essentials of JSF2.0
Section 2: JSF Navigation Model
Section 3: Data Conversion and Validation model
Section 4: Event Handling
Section 5: Data table and Composite Components
Section 6: Custom Components
Section 7: Security
Section 8: Test, Package, and Deploy a web application

Ricardo,
Now that this has been confirmed, I'm giving you a cow for being the first to bring up this information.

Great info. I rescheduled my appointment from April to May.

Regarding the exam subjects, do you have any more details? There are several areas that are different from the subjects covered in Oracle training course"Development Web Application with JSF".

Specifically, the following subjects are in the course description but not on your exam subject list.
1. AJAX and JSF
2. Message Bundle
3. HTML 5 and JSF
4. Third party libraries
5. External resource (JPA)

It's not surprising that 3, 4, and 5 are not included in the exam but 1 and 2 should reasonably be expected on in the exam.

Also do you happen to know which version of JSF the Exam is based on? JSF 2.2 or earlier JSF 2 version?

Thanks.

SCJP, SCWCD, SCBCD, OCEJPA, Oracle SQL Certified Expert, IBM XML, MCP, MCSA, MCDBA

The exam page says it is for Java EE 6. Which would mean JSF 2.0 since 2.2 goes with Java EE 7.

Thanks Jeanne. It makes sense to be JSF 2.0.

BTW, the Oracle site has updated the Exam topics details. AJAX, bundle, and html 5 will be included.

They also made the version of JSF more explicit:
