I have heard that Head First Servlets And JSP is a very nice book. I have the book and I have read the first six chapters and I have thoroughly enjoyed ( I could complete six chapters in two days cause I felt that the content was very nicely explained and the authors made the topics really interesting ) reading those chapters. If I wasn't working on other things currently, I would have continued reading that book.

No idea about JDBC but I have referred to the Oracle tutorials quite a few times for JDBC. Not sure which book is good for JDBC.
