As far as I know there are no study guides available at this moment for OCPJP7 at this moment. Both K&B and Mala Gupta are working on a study guide.

Helpful indeed. I didn't know there was already a resource/book on the market.

Just had a quick glance. Based on the ToC I think all topics are covered. But I'm a bit wondered about the number of pages this book has: only 650 pages. The K&B6 book has more than 800 pages. And for the OCPJP7 the number of topics are increased. That's why I expect the study guides for the OCPJP7 certification to have more than 1000 pages. That makes me doubt a little bit about the book being too comprehensive to have a good and clear understanding. For example, the chapter on generics and collection is 60 pages, in the K&B6 book it's 120 pages (95 pages if you ignore the self-test with the correct answers).

Just my 2 cents.

Currently I am preparing for the OCPJP7 using this book. My insight on the book is that it is very compact explaining just the necessary essentials for passing the exam.

I suppose the reason the book's page count appears to be small is the fact that it is text-based only containing no illustrations or images, and the line-spacing is very small within the paragraphs.

Seems I was not that wrong with the expected page count

K&B certification study guides are superb, no one can argue about that ...

But their book will be that huge as it contain information for both OCA and OCP combined into one package ...

Take for instance Mala Gupta's - OCP Java SE 7 Programmer II Certification Guide Prepare for the 1ZO-804 exam is said to be 750 pages which usually contain a lot of images and illustrations that take up a lot of page space.

But hey!... It all comes down to which one a candidate prefers ... Its like choosing your favourite flavour of ice-cream
