Install WebLogic 12.1.2.1 without display

I have downloaded both wls_121200.jar and oepe-12.1.2.1-kepler-installer-linux-gtk.bin from the Oracle website. I have tried running both with console mode, but both fail with the same error message.

Running:
Output:

I am able to install WebLogic if I install a local X-server (Xming) and use X11 forwarding in PuTTy, but it shouldn't be necessary to setup a windowing system to install a WebLogic server on a Linux server.

Now, did I do something wrong during the installation, or did Oracle mess up by disabling console mode?

the new 12.1.2 installer hasn't a console mode.

What kind of nonsense is that? Do they really expect sysadmins to add windowing support for a server only for installing WebLogic 12.1.2.1?

You can use Silent Mode:

Do you know if there is something similar for setting up domains?

You can use pack and unpack for it.
http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1212/wls/WLDPU/commands.htm

also WLST is another approach (using templates).
