Hi,
I am fresher
I already have Kathy&Bert's SCJP6 (310-065) book & OCPJP7 (Ganesh and Tushar Sharma)

I have several Questions.

I want to take OCPJP7 Exam; Which of the following way would be suitable for me.
1) OCPJP6 (1Z0-851) -> OCPJP7 (1Z0-805)
2) OCAJP7 (1Z0-803) -> OCPJP7 (1Z0-804)

Many people suggested me 2nd option.
But my question is: Can i choose 1st option. Are there any prerequisite exams to that?

in these which option is adavanced one?? [/b]

You can choose whatever way you want. Both are suitable. I think 2nd will be easier to pass ( I did 1st one ;) ).
There are no prerequisites for OCPJP6 and OCAJP7.
You just need to learn, pay and pass one of them ;).

Did you already take the OCPJP5/6 or SCJP? The 1Z0-805 is only to upgrade your cert to version 7. If you are just starting with no cert, you get 1Z0-803 for OCAJP7 and then 1Z0-804 for OCPJP7. Again, 805 only upgrades existing OCPJP5/6 or SCJP, it does not give a fresh cert. I would not bother with option 1.

Thank you so much Pawel & Ben.......

If i take up option 1 then
Kathy&Bert's SCJP6 (310-065)
OCPJP7 (Ganesh and Tushar Sharma)

books are enough to clear na?

If not any online material or blog?

Could you say us what is your level in Java development ?
If you have no experience, second option is better because the first certification is easier than OCPJP 6 (OCPJP 6 is almost the same knowledge at OCPJP 7, the only difference is the Java's version).
If you have some experience, go to OCPJP6 (because the book of Kathy Sierra is amazing) and ... you have two choice after.

1°) Continue to OCPJP 7 (but I don't think it's a great idea ... OCPJP8 is about to release and there isn't a big difference between java 7 and 6).
2°) Continue to another level of certification like OCEWCD ... until OCPJP8 will be out !

It's not even in beta yet. Oracle hasn't announced a date. My guess is late this year or early next year. Not soon.

Actually, there was. Oracle added a lot of new topics to the Java 7 cert like JDBC. While I think it is fine to have the OCJP 6 cert, it is different.

Java 8 is about to release !
Source : https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&gl=uk&tbm=nws&authuser=0&q=java+8&oq=java+8&gs_l=news-cc.3..43j43i53.1414.2556.0.3484.6.4.0.2.2.0.101.334.3j1.4.0...0.0...1ac.1.o83J1aVLoxQ#authuser=0&gl=uk&hl=en&q=java+8+out&tbm=nws

And because Java 8 is coming, OCPJP 8 will be arrived few month or one year after. Java 7 was finished in 2011 and OCPJP 7 was released at the end of 2011. There's just one thing it take a long time, it's the book for OCPJP 8.

Read this last link, it's very interesting.

The only differences between OCPJP 6 and 7 are : JDBC Topic and Singleton design pattern. The other design pattern, you can learn these topic on OCEJWCD.

The best way to choose is to read the objective of each certification :

OCAJP 7 : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-803&p_org_id=&lang=
OCPJP 7 : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-804&p_org_id=&lang=

OCPJP 6 : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-851&p_org_id=&lang=

There's any bad choice, just make the best choice for you (it depends on your experience and your goal). Maybe, but I don't know (because I did the certification path of Java 6) it's easier to do OCAJP 7 and after OCPJP 7 (because OCPJP 6 is hard )!

The easiest way to go through is to read these two books:

Study Guide: SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 Exam 310-065

Practice Exams: OCP Java SE 6 Programmer Practice Exams (Exam 310-065) (Certification Press)

I want to take OCPJP7 Exam
1) OCPJP6 (1Z0-851) -> OCPJP7 (1Z0-805)
2) OCAJP7 (1Z0-803) -> OCPJP7 (1Z0-804)

to clear these you need to study entire 10 chapters of Kathy&Bert's SCJP6 (310-065) book ??

or is their any syllabus for that or the syllabus is whole book itself (all 10 chapters)

Other differences between the exams are: IO, NIO, DAO pattern, Factory patterns, Try-with-resources, Multicatch, more Concurrency and switch with strings
