Failed to pass Part I

Hi every body,
I have failed yesterday to pass Part I , I have studied the past 6 months almost 1 hour daily, My main study guide was SCEA study guide by Paul Allen and Joseph Bambara (Jul 12, 2007) + Mark Cade book.
The both books provide good - yet not sufficient - context for preparing for the exam.

the Most important flaws in these books are as following:
- Security part is not sufficient at all , You will need to be aware of the basic threats for a web application (Session Hijacking , SQL injection ... etc).
- I almost get 6 questions out of 60 related to Anti - patterns , Which is not even stated.
- Bambara's book have focused on EJB prior to 3.0 so you will need to review the EJB part from another source
- Bambara's book haven't covered the SOA , On the other hand Cade's give it almost one page in the whole book.

Sorry that you couldn't get through Part 1. When I was preparing for my exam I had to go through many sources to gain knowledge. For security I read Mikalai Zaikin’s SCEA Notes. Go through link below for more info.

I also had these problems, but I decided to make simulator before the oficial certification and that's what got me through.

Do not loose heart. It happens sometimes.

The books you mentioned are written for SCEA 5. Did you attempt SCEA 5 or SCEA 6? Try going for SCEA 5 if you have taken SCEA 6.

I failed OCM JEA 6 first time (passing score 71%, mine 70%), but passed on the second attempt.

Note: the Java EE 6 version of exam changed maybe by 40% from Java EE 5 version. So if you use only OCM JEA 5 books, you are risking to have some objectives not covered.
