Just what exactly is a moderator as it appies to the E-chop? Do you have to be an expert on a particular subject? Have super-human powers? Entitle you to a secret list of winning lotto numbers? etc... I notice that some topics have them, some don't.
Once a person has put 31 messages into the system, it changes your "type" from "junior member" to "member". There is a report I check regularly that shows this. When I notice someone has crossed the boundary, I send them e-mail and ask if they want to become a moderator of a forum. The moderator of a forum has the ability to lock threads, edit or delete messages and access some of the special control panel pages at www.eporkchop.com/ubb/cp.html. I think the reason the moderator stuff is built into this software is in case an ugly debate breaks out and the admin is not around. The moderator can kill offending junk and lock some threads.
