access denied java.lang.runtimepermission exitvm.0

I am new to applet and I have a problem access denied java.lang.runtimepermission exitvm.0 it shows me this error on Safari, Firefox doesn't show me anything at all, I have no idea why is so, it runs perfectly on my Eclipse but it doesn't work on web browser Any help? Thanks.

Welcome to the Ranch.

When applets run in an IDE they have a relaxed security policy but when run in a browser their rights are extremely restricted unless they are signed. I haven't looked at your code to find the line causing the problem but you could try self signing the applet to see if that helps although these days you need it signed by a trusted authority to make any real difference unless you also add an exception to the Java control panel.

Based on code like this:



I would guess that the problem is with connecting to addresses other than the one from where the applet was downloaded; however looking at the stack trace which comes with the exception should tell you exactly what line of code is the problem.
