How does the short-circuit && evaluate its operands?

If you have

(x > 3) && (y < 2) | (z == 3)

then why is the expression evaluated as though there were parantheses around

(y < 2) | (z == 3)

? Do the other operators like ||, |, &, etc. behave the same / similarly?

Operator | has higher precedencd than ||. The same is true for & and &&.

When you write logical expressions, the precedences ¬ ∧ ⊕ ∨ ⇒ ⇔ are different from Java's.
