What technology do we use to make our web page to rank higher in Google search ?

Today I was surfing through the net when I found one article which talks about how Google makes frequent update to its search algorithm and how different sites get affected because of it.

So I was wondering what technology/language we can use to bypass Google's algorithm if it is at all possible or at least we can help to rank our website significantly higher in search.

One more question I have in mind and would like to know what Ranchers think about it is over the period of time has Google improved it's search algorithm's quality as far as user experience is concerned or not?

Cheers,
Prashant.

(a) Even if this were possible, does this not strike you at all as unethical?

(b) If it were possible, do you not think that everyone would be doing it? And then what would be the point?

Also, be careful with using tricks to up your ranking. I've read that Google punishes sites that use what they consider to be unfair practices, by bumping their ranking down.

It would like finding a bug in the system. I know it will be really difficult to do but you never know. If someone can challenge Google then she/he has to be genius of some kind. And regarding unethicality , we will always have different views like hacking.

Ah, but it is possible, and everybody is doing it: it's called SEO. I would call it a technique rather than a technology, though.

You're right, here's the algorithm:

I'm not an expert at search engines, but I'm fairly confident that you can't get Google to bypass its own algorithm in order to improve your page ranks. SEO isn't about hacking and/or gaming Google, but making it easy for search engines to figure out what your site is about. That's done through accurate and focused meta tag keywords, page titles, and headers. Google also tracks who goes to your sites based on particular searches, so you'd better make sure that your site delivers on the implied promises that your keywords make. Links from other web sites help a lot too, so if you can make agreements with related websites for cross linking, that can improve page rankings for both parties.
