The output of the above code is

I am confused with which thread is running the run method is it the main() thread

if main thread is running the run method then System.out.println(currentThread()); this method should print name of main method...???

It prints out whatever the Thread.toString() method returns - check the javadocs of the Thread class to learn what that is (here's a hint: it does not include any method name).
