How often do you change your razor blade?

I bought some new blades today for my razor. I am always amazed at how expensive they are. And it got me to wondering how often people change their blades?

I certainly don't shave every day, but I try to go as long as I can before changing mine...I easily go several weeks.

So do you get a new one daily? Weekly? Monthly?

I use a Mach 3 on my head -- obviously my face does not get shaved. I can go just about a month, shaving a couple of times a week, before swapping out blades.

DE razor blades are far far cheaper than cartridges (like the Mach 3), and I know a lot of head-shavers who swear by them, but with my hand-eye coordination, or lack thereof, I'd likely just make a bloody (literally) mess of things; so I stick with the cartridges.

I put in a new blade on the 15th of every month. So, monthly. The blade gets pretty worn after about 3 weeks but a 3-weekly schedule would be too hard to manage.

Thank goodness for the Reminders app on my iPhone/Mac. I'd never be able to remember when to do oddly scheduled things such as: give the dogs their heartworm medication, periodically start the mostly unused project car sitting in the garage so that its battery doesn't die, vacuum the bedroom rug, change the filter in the water purifier, change the filter in the A/C unit, or check for Kindle freebies!

At first blood. Usually 3 to 4 weeks. If I remember to dry it, it will last a little longer.

I've been seriously considering learning to use a straight razor so I can stop buying those outrageously priced replacement blades, but the idea of holding a straight razor to my carotid artery gives me the cold chills. And I imagine the learning curve would be rather painful and messy. I can see myself going to work with a dozen little bits of toilet paper stuck all over my face.

When it starts to take more strokes, which is about once a month. Luckily, I only need to shave every other day.

I do too, but even those blades don't last forever. I use a Norelco and change the head about once a year.

Heh, anybody else ancient enough to remember the Noëlco ("Even our name says Merry Christmas") commercials of the 60's?

Expensive? I use cheap 'private brand' disposable blades of a drugstore discounter that are like ... one Euro a piece? I shave two or three times a week, and use the blade for a week or two. I can afford the 50 cents a week from my salary.

I bought fifteen cartridges for around $33 U.S. - about 24 Euros - and each lasts me about a month.

I stopped using Razor blade, this and the saving cream makes my skin red and full of razor burns. Now, I use electronic trimmer.
