Hello Everybody,

I am glad to inform you all that I got an email confirming that I am now an oracle certified master java enterprise edition 6 architect.

Congratulations! You have achieved the highest level of Java Certification one can achieve. You are among the elite group of individuals who can call themselves a Java Enterprise Edition 6 Enterprise Architect Cer. Your new Java Enterprise Edition 6 Enterprise Architect Cer credential is being processed. This credential will be mailed to you at the address we have on file for you in your testing profile.

Step 1 Jul 04 2014: Completed training (Java EE 7 new features): it was a virtual class and costed around 1050 (actual cost was much more but I got a 30% discount with my company code).
Step 2 Jun 10 2014: Cleared the Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect Certified Master 1Z0-807 exam with 90%. I was expecting more but that was good enough as the cut off percentage was 71%
Step 3 Jul 11 2014: Downloaded the assignment immediately after the exam and submitted after a month of download. I spent around 60 hours on this and had to change my design twice. [Team Doctor]
Step 4 Jul 14 2014: Gave the Java (EE) Enterprise Architect Certified Master Essay 1Z0-866 exam. I detailed every response thoroughly and that was the reason why I ran out of time and hardly had any time left for reviewing
Step 5 Jul 14 2014: Completed the course submission form.

Yesterday, i received an email from oracle and I was delighted to check on their website that I have scored 155 out of 160 in Step 3 and Step 4 put together.

Hi,

I am a unable to edit the original post and hence providing details about my experience and preparation I went through to clear the exam here.

For the first exam: mark cade's book and Amritendus book were primary sources of preparation. Additionally, i have attempted several questions available on OCMJEA on the internet and did some research to validate if the answers provided by me and the answers provided in those blogs were in fact correct. My preparation for the first exam was not very intensive as I have been an ardent fan of Java EE and have been constantly upgrading myself in the last 10 or 11 years consistently. however, if you are not in touch with the latest features of Java EE 6, then i recommend that you go through the concepts thoroughly. Most of the questions were scenario based and hence it is good to attempt sample questions wherever available on the internet.

For the assignment [Team Doctor Assignment]: Component, Class, Sequence and Deployment diagrams were done using UML 2.0 and I used Star UML to accomplish them. I made sure i went through the requirement document at least 10 times and in spite of that i had to change my design a 2 times to accommodate the points that did not notice in earlier readings. I had most fun doing the deployment diagram and made sure several non functional requirements are addressed and detailed in the deployment diagram. I first did the class diagram and then derived the component diagram. The sequence diagrams were most time consuming as i detailed every action performed by the user in steps and provided sequence diagram for each of the actions performed. I did not prepare for the assignment but spent a good 60 hours on documenting the design. I documented assumptions and Risks clearly (only top three risks).

Essay exam: A day before the essay exam, i made a few points about why i chose frameworks that i had in the design and how the design would address all the non functional requirements. The detailed every question but it may not be needed to detail at that level (i dont know). i did not have much time to review the responses.

I have more than a decade of experience providing architecture and designing medium to large scale projects. Honestly, except the new Java EE 6 features, I have designed and architected applications using almost everything up to what Java EE 5 offers. This has helped tremendously in cutting down the preparation time.

All the blogs and responses on this website and on several websites related to OCMJEA helped me understand several NOT TO DOs which played a phenomenal role in my assignment and essay exams. I owe the high score i got (155 out of 160) to java ranch bloggers and followers.

This website rocks and probably is one of the best out there.
