As the title implies, the book covers language features that are new in Java 8, not the entire language. The Java class libraries are so big that I don't think any single book could cover all of it.

I do not think a beginner could learn Java® from this book.

Carlos,

The book is not aimed at beginner Java programmers. There are other books out there better suited for that. Once he has mastered the basic concepts of Java, then this book will help him get up to speed on Java 8.
