What exactly does the "requestFocus()" method do and Where do we use it?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Have you read the JavaDoc description for JComponent.requestFocus()?

I did but I didn't understand this : Requests that this Component gets the input focus.
What does it mean? Does it mean that the component which calls the method should be the active or "selected" component or something?

What happened when you tried it?

I think I understand what's going on because here's what happened when i tried it:

if you give say someComponent.requestFocus() and if the component is like a text area..the cursor moves there when the requestFocus() is executed.

It's good that you've figured out how it works but read the API docs carefully - it specifically warns against using this particular method and recommends a better alternative.
