Hi,
I am supposed to learn Endur endur. They told that it has some development section. I just wanted to know if someone knows what it is and how much does it involve java. If I do this, will I loose by java background? I am very anxious about this.

Never heard of it. Who told you to learn it? Have you found any fora about it? Does the product provide any tutorials about it?

My staffing HR is telling me to move to this technology from java. She said it is a good option. No idea why. I searched it, but not able to find anything useful about it. I am concerned that it will impact my development career. So, wanted to know if someone knew about it.

If it is so good, she should be able to tell you about it.

I asked her. She did not reply yet. There is another point i wanted to know. If i wish to go in technological domain, but i am getting business domain jobs currently, will it be sensible to take it for now and try technical jobs later? Or its better to quit and search technology oriented jobs now itself?

Also, if i work in business domain for sometime, will i loose my technology career?

OpenLink Endur is an Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) software and it used by some utility companies that are into Energy trading. What it gives is a base framework and you customize it to your needs. It used a Java like programming API called JVS, though I do not know what the abbreviation stands for.

What proof does the HR have to claim that it is a goof option for you to move into Endur? It is always a good option to learn something new when you get the chance to do so! At the same time being locked down to a specific product or a technology toolset limits your chances!

Sounds like an extremely niche and marginalized technology.

Interesting to see how a very very specific toolset / technology becomes an extremely niche skill!

Merry Christmas to all!!

Well, that part is not the only issue. I got another opportunity but that too proved to be similar only. The technology tool being Murex with similar requirements. Now I am not sure if I will be getting pure java related job offers or not. But does going into this tools help me in any way? I know understanding business domain is good but I want to limit my involvement in that to a level. Options for me are not looking too great..
