May I get some help from people who had already passed the test and people who is going to take the test to share some info on the test? Here is a list of thing I would like to know.
1. Study guide?
2. Mock Exams?
3. Books for preparation?
4. Difficulty level in comparison to SCJP/SCJD?
5. Your personal experience in preparing/taking the exam.
I already had quite some experience in Weblogic 5.1, and would like to take the exam in very short period of time(shooting for two to three weeks). I tried searching this topic but got very little info. Some links of study guide are pointing to unavailable web site.
Any info is really appreciated.

Hi Frant,
For the study guide I think you should read the BEA documents and side by side you can refer to SUN doc for further conceptualize your knowledge in that field, e.g. if you are studying EJB/Servlet/JSP of BEA, then refer to Sun tutorial on that, taht will be helpful.
Good luck for the exam

I'm wondering ...... can you study for the sun enterprise architect and bea weblogic at the same time? I think the topics overlap

I passed BEA's WL 6 test a couple of weeks ago.
The getgamma site is very good, except that it crashes all the time in the middle of practice exames, and should be your starting point. There are a few points to keep when using it:
1) There is a document called "Tuning WebLogic Server" http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61//perform/WLSTuning.html which is not in the getgamma site which you should read. It is short, easy to read, and most of the material in it is covered in other materials. However, it does have some stuff which is not covered in other places which was on the test I took.
2) This is a small point, but the getgamma site covers WL 6.0. BEA says that the certification exam is valid for both 6.0 and 6.1 but I had one question on monitoring where it said to select 3 and two answers were valid for 6.0 and three were valid for 6.1.
On the other hand, 6.1 has new stuff in other areas, like servlets - I had no questions about this type of material. You probably do not need to study this stuff.
3) Almost all the questions in the getgamma site are pulled directly from the documentation. On BEA's exam most of the questions were pulled directly from the documentation but some were not. The only way to be able to answer these other questions would be to actually have written code and have hands-on experience as to how WL works. This second kind of question was maybe 10% of the total.
4) If you take the practice exam on getgamma many times do not trust your score on the section called "Configure, package and deploy EJBs, Servlets, JSPs , AND ENTERPRISE APPLICATIONS ". This section is pure memorization and there are maybe hundreds of possible questions. When you study the documentation after taking the getgamma exam you will tend to pick out the answers to those specific questions and get a high score on the getgamma site, but BEA will likely ask a completely different set of questions.

I know from experience that BEA's guidance in what you need to study to pass their exam is pathetic. I think even the exam objectives come from jCert and not from them.
I hope this helps.

Hi David,
I'm surprised that you had a question valid only for version 6.1. I'll check into it and update my guide and mock exams accordingly.
Please let me know if you, or anyone else, are having trouble with the mock exam engine. We had some problems in the past, but since we switched our internet host provider we haven't had any reported problems.

Thanks for all of you giving so much helpful information. Mentioned site is very helpful, and I found that using Netscape could avoid crashing, which I am not sure if it is just a coincidence. Nevertheless, I am back to square one, because the test covers a lot of general J2EE topics, not hand-on experience. Passing the test is not my real goal, I want something that can force me to get into the depth. I am rethinking my path now, not sure at this point if I want to spend a lot of time on reading.

I share Frank's thoughts. The exam- (based on the mock exam) appears too theoritical. Has anybody found it helpful- in terms of getting a job or has improved one practical knowledge.
Thanks
Sanjay
