Thanks a lot for the welcome – and for the questions! – and apologies for being slow to start replying. I'm looking forward to the conversations on the forum this week.

Thanks for this book! I have looked over the book contents and it seems small and concise.

Welcome indeed. I'm really enjoying all the threads about lambdas because, while I still find the syntax a bit odd, I really like the "philosophy".

It takes time. You will have to win the book. But I think it will be the ordinary edition. I looked on a certain well‑known books website the other day and there appeared to be two editions, one costing about double what the other costs. I have seen that sort of thing before a couple of weeks ago.

But I am going to win the book. So sure do I want to be of winning that I am putting in an order for a copy anyway. But it will be the ordinary edition because it cost £5 less than at another website.

Maybe the expensive edition has gold-plated pages. If not, then it is a complete mystery to me how they manage to have two different prices.

Hah! In your dreams. And BTW, my surname's spelt 'Gutkowski' (just so it gets to the right person).

I don't understand the whole thing about book prices at all. Why on earth would anyone pay £45 for something that they can perfectly easily get for £18?

I only wish my royalties reflected these ridiculous prices!

That sort of weird pricing appeared here similarly about 3 weeks ago. The large websites sell a book for £x and somebody else tries to sell the same book for £2.5x. One of those little mysteries of life.

And we have greatly appreciated having you here to take part in the rough and tumble of a book promo. You have really played your part in the game.
