This week's book giveaway is in the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum. We're giving away four copies of Refactoring for Software Design Smells: Managing Technical Debt and have Girish Suryanarayana, Ganesh Samarthyam & Tushar Sharma on-line! See this thread for details.
The META-INF directory is not at all specific to WebLogic. It is the directory where the MANIFEST.MF of a standard jar is stored. Here is more information: The META-INF directory. For J2EE components the META-INF directory has other purposes as well depending on the component. In an ejb-jar the META-INF directory holds the standard ejb deployment descriptor, ejb-jar.xml, and any vendor specific descriptors. In an ear the META-INF directory holds the standard ear deployment descriptor, application.xml, and any vendor specific descriptors. A war does not use the META-INF directory but it uses a very similar one named WEB-INF. This is where all of the deployment descriptors and classes for the war are stored. Again, none of this is specific to WebLogic. It is all standard J2EE packaging. [ January 25, 2003: Message edited by: Chris Mathews ]
