When you all first thought about getting certified, what did you feed into your favorite search engine?
What would be some searches that should lead to JavaRanch?

My $0.00US:
I came across Marcus' site via a post in USENET (c.l.j.p & h). But I wasn't looking for a cert site (yet).

It must have had the Subject: Certification or something like it. It was months ago. I remember visiting Marcus' site for one question (the location of cert exam sites) and then I came back months later.

I don't remember exactly how I came here - I think I was reading about certification at Sun's site, and maybe an article in JavaWorld online. I was also looking at places like Roedy Green's excellent Java glossary - I think that's probably where I found the link to Marcus' site. I'm pretty that was the first one I came across that was dedicated to certification.
If I were to look in a search engine (which I'll do now to see what happens), I'd probably go first to yahoo and search for "java certification". Unimpressed with the results there, I'd try going to Computers -> Programming languages -> Java, and wander around there. Still unimpressed (where the heck is the listing for Roedy's glossary?!!), I'd decide yahoo isn't what it used to be, and jump to altavista. There I'd try ""java certification"" (with quotes since I'm sure there are zillions of occurances otherwise), and lo and behold, I'd start finding real sites.

Got it.
That's what I'll feed to the search engines.
Thanks!
