I would like to know how Applet read a excel file from web application server. I have coded as following:
URL u = new URL(str); //str is http://localhost:7001/Reports/csv/dynReport.xls
AppletContext a = getAppletContext();
a.showDocument(u);
it did open the file, but show funky words. Please help me for that.

You'll need to get the Applet to display the file somehow. I would save the Excel file in CSV format and use a JTable. There are plenty of free or commercial components that can do this.

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
