JCombobox autocomplete

When I put a jcombobox inside a jpanel and use the built in autocomplete, the popup list remains open while I type the letters. If the jcombobox is inside a table the popup list closes when I type the first letter and loses focus.

I'm using this code to put the jcombobox as a table cell:

TableColumn tc = table1.getColumnModel().getColumn(1);
tc.setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(getCombo1()));

How can I configure this so the popup list remains open while I type the letters ?
