I turned off four forums that hadn't seen any activity for over four months. I'm thinking that maybe the internet protocol forum could include I/O, opinions? For new forums, do we need something for the rank beginner? Maybe we should have Java in General (beginner) Java in General (intermediate) Java in General (advanced) ?? Other new forums might include "OO, Patterns and Refactoring". Another rename might be from "RMI/CORBA" to "Distributed Systems (RMI, CORBA, etc.)" Any comments on these? Any other suggestions?

I'm thinking that maybe the internet protocol forum could include I/O, opinions? How about "Internetworking" or "Networking"? I like: Java in General (beginner) Java in General (intermediate) Java in General (advanced)
Other new forums might include "OO, Patterns and Refactoring". YES! I plan to learn that next... (OOD)

Just a suggestion, but how about two new forums: "Best of Java Ranch" (readable by all, writeable by registered) "Found a particularly useful thread or message? Tell everyone here" "Frequently Asked Questions" (readable by all, writeable by mods and admins only) "Definitive answers to common questions - look here first" Thoughts?
Frank, I'm not sure about the concept, but it's your vision. You've certainly earned your keep around here and you have the magic keys to make new forums. I say, go ahead and make the forums and show us what your vision is! If it turns out to be a dud, we can always turn the forums off later.

http://java.sun.com/cert-initiative/tracks.html In the Java Certification section, we may require two more Forums. Certified Solution Developer Certified Enterprise Developer However, it may be too early to bring them into the light. Thoughts?
A year ago there was a big push for that sort of thing. But it seems to have slipped to the side and nobody has bothered with it. Anybody know of anything to the contrary?
