Does Weblogic 8.1 LDAP Embedded Server support additional user attributes?
I would like to store some custom attributes of my own.

If the answer is Yes, how do I retrieve these customer attributes from my PageFlow, once the user has logged in?

I appreciate any guidance.

thanks,
Vishwa

I found the answer at the BEA dev forums.

Weblogic 8.1 LDAP schema is extendable but not recommended by BEA as they
might the change schema file in the future patch/full releases(C:\bea\weblogic81\server\lib\schema.core.xml).

I could either use the JNDI API that comes along with the SUN's JDK1.4 or use the netscape.ldap.* API that comes along with the weblogic 8.1 jars to
retrieve the attributes. There is also a sample at the dev source site.(SampleLDAPControl.zip)

Also, be careful about attaching anything to the LDAP server. It scales very poorly when you start talking about tens of thousands of users and/or groups.

Scott,
thanks for the info. I am using 6 of the built-in LDAP attributes that come along with the Weblogic's LDAP embedded server to store the User's profile attributes.

Ours is going to be pilot Application with 30 users initially. The number of users might go upto 300 over a period of an year or so. When that happens, we we plan to switch over to a full-fledged LDAP server
like Microsoft Active Dir or Sun One.

Regards,
Vishwa
