This is due to your system has two differnt JRE running.

poosible cause: your classpath is pointing to jdk1.3
and your system have the jdk1.4 installed

please check the class path and install JRE (java -version)

when iam creating the domain java -Dweblogic.Domain=simple
-Dweblogic.Name=server1
it is giving the following error

Usage: java [-options] class [args...]
(to execute a class)
or java -jar [-options] jarfile [args...]
(to execute a jar file)

where options include:
-hotspot to select the "hotspot" VM
-server to select the "server" VM
-classic to select the "classic" VM
If present, the option to select the VM must be first.
The default VM is -hotspot.

-cp -classpath <directories and zip/jar files separated by ;>
set search path for application classes and resources
-D<name>=<value>
set a system property
-verbose[:class|gc|jni]
enable verbose output
-version print product version and exit
-showversion print product version and continue
-? -help print this help message
-X print help on non-standard options
please tellme what should be the error
my jdkversion is jdk1.3.0_01

If your call is only "java -Dweblogic.Domain=simple -Dweblogic.Name=server1" I'd assume that you should add the "weblogic.Server" at the end of your call.
You should also make shure that all the needed classes are on your classpath. Hope this helps.

D:\bea\weblogic700\server\bin\puvvada>java -Dweblogic.Domain=sample
-Dweblogic.Name=server2
-Dweblogic.management.username=puvvada
-Dweblogic.management.password=puvvada
-Dweblogic.ListenPort=9000
-Dweblogic.StdoutSeverityLevel=64
-Dbea.home=d:\bea
-Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=false weblogic.Server
when i have given this command it is giving the following exception
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/Server

As I already mentioned:

You should also make shure that all the needed classes are on your classpath.

This means you have to add the weblogic.jar to your classpath.
