Would anyone find it of use if we broke up this forum into two separate forums, one for Jobs and one for employment wanted? I think most people are interested in one or the other, but largely not both.

I think that's a good idea. Prospective employers will probably be more likely to use a site that looks like it's specifically for job listings rather than the "miscellaneous job-related stuff" that this "Jobs" is becoming, IMO. But obviously there's interest in these other areas as well. I'd suggest a further split:
Jobs Offered
Jobs Wanted: resumes, notices of availability, etc.
Jobs Discussion: miscellaneous talk - career guidance, state of the job market, interview strategies, etc.
There was a lot of activity in the first category, and there is a lot of activity in the last. We haven't seen too many posts that fit in the middle category, but I think it might well grow. Now that I've had my say , I'm moving this to the "Java Ranch" forum since that's the best one for discussions of creating new forums. Further input (there) would be welcomed.

Sounds good to me. Sheriff Jim - why don't you do the honors. Go to the control panel, click on "Forums" and then "create new forum" (I think that's what it's called). Then find the current Jobs forum and change the name of it. Maybe when the new forums are created, you can move some threads out of the old forum into the new ones.

Jim, I am a first time visitor to the site. I noticed that you may be creating or created a forum to locate Java talent and find Java opportunities. Has that been completed? If so where? I do work in a HR capacity and have some unique opportunities available but I don't want to use your site to notify participants if it's unwanted. I prefer to be professional and ethical about it. Is there an opportunity to work with you to attract talent and offer some career opportunities? Marc Pittsburgh, PA

Yes, it's up. Go to the Big Moose Saloon, and find the listing for "Jobs Offered". That's the most appropriate one for recruitment messages. "Jobs Wanted" is for postings from job seekers - you can look there and see if you can find anyone who might suit your needs, and "Jobs Discussions" is sort of a "miscellaneous" category which is worth checking out as well. I hope you find them useful.
