Hi,
http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/ae/infocenter/was/01040207.ht ml
Above is the link I referred to from a previous posting.this shows the following configuration
Machine A :- Web server ,Web server plug-in,administrative server, administrative console[OPTIONAL]
Machine B:- administrative server, administrative console, application server
Machine C:- Database Server

I want to know HOW can i install the administrative server on Machine A without installing the appllication server? because the installation has a option of installing both the servers together. And if you have to select the Application server then you also need a database client to be installed.
regards,
Suchitra

NO
I have the complete version with custom and full installation options.
Also if you see the link above ,
quoted:
-----------------------------------
Test the installation on the application server machine:
Start the administrative server.
Start the WebSphere Administrative Console (Java console).
Start the application server.
You might need to create a new application server.
Test the product installation:
Start the Web server on Machine B.
Browse the snoop servlet on Machine B: http://machine_B_hostname/servlet/snoop
where machine_B_hostname is a valid hostname for Machine B.
------------------------------------------
now how come they talk of the web server on machine B ??
I am really confused ....Do they mean you need to have web server and App Server on both machines?
regards,
Suchitra

Suchitra,
For thin servlet redirector, you need to install appserver + webserver (full installation) in both the machines ( A & B). In machine C you have ur DB2 running.
Now your machine B is appserver & A is webserver. i.e you start admin console for machine B but not machine A. In machine B default_host, specify the machine A's ip & node name.
In machine A, modify the iiopredirector.xml file fields (admin-node-name & ame-service-node-name) from localhost to the machine B's node name. This will make a change in the vhosts.properties file locted in %WAS_HOME%/temp.
This will redirect all the calls made to ur webserver(Machine A) to the appserver (Machine B). This is how servlet redirector will work.
