Hi guys,
I am new to WebSphere. Is it necessary to have DB2 installed in my machine for installing WebSphere 3.5 Advanced Edition.
Can't I use Oracle instead of DB2? And which one is better ?

Hiya.
Yes, you can use Oracle. (It's the only one I've ever used, and it's worked quite well).
I don't know which one is better, they all have their pro's and con's.

Hi karthi,
yes it is must that u have to install database before installing application server.
oracle is a good database.
db2 belongs to same IBM as websphere.if u use db2,i think it will be useful in future,if there is any change in version.
