Hi all,
I installed WS 4 AE in Windows NT. The installation was ok.
When i checked for the webserver using "http:\\server" it showed the index html for IBM HTTP server.
But when I tried to start the Websphere, it didn't Start. I said it can't start the webspehre, although it did some initial settings.
Please tell me do I have to make any changes in the configuration files??
BTW why is that IBM products never work at first start, unlike Microsoft..
Thanks.

Unlike M$ !!! ???
Back to business , When you click on the shortcut to "First steps" does it open up the GUI to launch admin console and to start the app server ?
You should be able to see the console output on the command prompt ..That should help you debug ..no you dont need to make any config changes

If you are running AE, what database did you choose for your administration repository? Was that database successfully created?
Try opening a DOS prompt and CD'ing to the AppServer/bin directory. There should be a batch (or shell) file there to start the admin server. If it fails, it should give you a little more information both on the command line and in the log...

3 Questions :
1. What do you see in the default_server_stdout.log ?
2. What is running on your PID 551 , should be java.exe at that PID
3. Did you have an install of any lutris products before ? ( dont really think this could be a issue , but i ran into issues with having enhydra and instDB on my m/c .
----- stdout.log would be really helpful ----

I always trust my stdout !
Try http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/advanced.html
The Advanced Developer Edition , or download the single server 30 day trial from the site .

The first paragraph doesn't help a bit! Think about it -- the errors are down below it. Paste in the entire thing and we'll see if we can help...
