I'm completely new to installing Websphere and have looked at the IBM Websphere's Developer Domain and so far it seems like attempting an install of the new Websphere Portal Express is very complicated. Has anyone tried this or can give me some pointers/tutorials/guidebook?
It looks like I would need to install DB2 UDB v. 7.2 and install JDK ....

It is very complicated and you definitely have to install a database (either Oracle or DB2). There is a newsgroup ibm.software.websphere.portal-server, you should check there for more details and post questions if you try the install and run into problems.

Thank you for the newsgroup. I will definitely look that up. Does the the Websphere Portal Express needs its own web server? I was intending to install this on an existing Domino web server. According to instructions from IBM redbook, part of the installation process includes the IBM HTTP Server. Does anyone know?

I have not used domino web server with Websphere 5 but I do use it with WAS 4.0.3 advanced. My advice if possible is to avoid Domino's HTTP Server. Its unpredictable and sometimes causes the CPU to max out. Just thought I'd let ya know.
