Is it a property file or xml file? Where can
I get an example of it?

xmi files are websphere extensions to J2EE
these are xml files
you will find ibm-application-bnd.xmi & ibm-application-ext.xmi files in ear file META-INF dir & also in war WEB-INF dir
- these files contain things like class reload interval, role bindings not yet in J2EE
