Problem while passing Large form data from browser to HTTP Server

I am using IBM Websphere 4.0 with IBM Http Server 1.3.19.
Everything works fine except that when I pass large amounts of form data from the browser to the HTTP Server, it is unable to capture the whole data.
I found this by looking at the access_log file of the HTTP Server. Due to incomplete data, it does not find the request method type & throws an error of Illegal Argument Exception on the screen. In the log it prints "Invalid Method Request".
I have the above configuration installed in 3 places and all the places are showing a similar behaviour. I tried to monitor the packets which go from browser to the HTTP Server. The packet data seems to be authentic.
The same code runs fine when I use IPlanet 4.1 with Websphere 4.0.

Please Help !!

A while back I had a problem with passing large amounts of data through the request. Details are fuzzy but it turned out it was a WebShpere 4.0 bug and the fix was in fixpack 3 I think.

Does this Fix pack come with Websphere 4.0 ?
But I still wonder, why does it work well with IPlanet & not with HTTP Server ? because until the request is received by the webserver, Websphere is not in picture.

just go to ibm site and search for webspher 4.0 patch 3. Really they are at 5 now though I think. Not even sure if this is your problem because as I understood it, this was a Websphere issue, not HTTP Server. From the console, go to help->about. If you are running 4.0.3 or better, then this is not your problem.

actually IBM recommends you be on WAS 4.0.4
If you are upgrading anyways, I would suggest going to 4.0.4, rahter then 4.0.3
You can download fixpak 4 from IBM's website itself.

Hi,
that error ur getting where a post of large files fail is definitely a WebSphere 4.0 bug. It can be fixed if u apply WebSphere version 4.0 Fix Pack 2 which upgrades it to 4.0.2 or Fix Pack 3 which upgrades it to 4.0.3. I have been trying to fix that problem since days. Let me know if it worked for you. Actually it did work for me but some other issues have come up.
The following is the problem am having right now. I would greatly appreciate it if you can help me with it.
Thanks
i installed this patch called was40_ae_ptf_2_SUN.tar. Everything was installed with 0 errors. But when i try to access my applications by giving just the server name followed by the Application's Web modules context root name, i get a page not found error HTTP 404. For example if i type the follwoing in the URL --http://trypdmweb.meritorauto.com/pdmportal/
i get that error. But when i specify the jsp page after the path the page shows up. For example http://trypdmweb.meritorauto.com/pdmportal/index.jsp?
it works.
And also none of the images show up on my jsp page anymore. Can anyone please tell me what went wrong inthe upgrade. I had tried this earlier and it didnt work, so i uninstalled the patch. I tried it again thinking that it was to do somehting with the path, but it didnt' work either.

I have to state the obvious. I only say it is the obvious because you said that it was previously working. WAS 4.0 has a problem with specifying JSP files as a welcome page. To get around this, you must define the WelcomeFileServlet (or something like that) and map it. Have you added this servlet to the web.xml file? Also make sure that index.jsp is still in the welcome file list.

In our case applying lattest plugging patch (cumulative 4.0.3 plugin patch at the time) solved this issue. It did slow down downloads of big pages though.
