Hi all, I have installed Websphere App Server 4.0 Advanced Edition and the fixpack5 on a Linux Red Hat 7.2 I run the adminserver.sh. In the first time some exceptions occur because of the plugin generator. In the second appears the message: 60be901d Server A WSVR0023I: Server __adminServer open for e-business When I run adminclient.sh localhost 900, I get the message: Error: ADGU2008E: The Administration client failed to connect to the Administration Server. PLease verify the local or remote Administration server host and port.... and in the log /opt/WebSphere/AppServer/logs/adminclient_audit_messages.log I get: [7/24/03 9:20:05:852 GMT-03:00] 7890ed92 RepositoryCli W ADGU1045E: Caught exception while getting initial context:javax.naming.NamingException: Failed to initialize the ORB [Root exception is org.omg.CORBA.INITIALIZE: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/ibm/rmi/iiop/GIOPVersionException at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.GIOPImpl.createListener(GIOPImpl.java:340) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.GIOPImpl.getEndpoint(GIOPImpl.java:527) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.GIOPImpl.initEndpoints(GIOPImpl.java:436) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.ClientDelegate.clientCallback(ClientDelegate.java:283) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.Utility.serverCallback(Utility.java:73) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.ORB.internalConnect(ORB.java:450) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.ORB.connect(ORB.java:388) at com.ibm.ISecurityLocalObjectBaseL13Impl.SecurityTaggedComponentAssistorImpl.register(SecurityTaggedComponentAssistorImpl.java:678) at com.ibm.ISecurityLocalObjectBaseL13Impl.SecurityTaggedComponentAssistorImpl.create(SecurityTaggedComponentAssistorImpl.java:159) at com.ibm.ISecurityUtilityImpl.ServiceInit.init(ServiceInit.java:274) at com.ibm.ejs.client.SelfInitializer.loadPlugin(SelfInitializer.java:363) at com.ibm.ejs.client.SelfInitializer.installRequestInterceptors(SelfInitializer.java:288) at com.ibm.ejs.client.SelfInitializer.init(SelfInitializer.java:228) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.PluginRegistry.loadPlugins(PluginRegistry.java:181) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.ORB.initializePlugins(ORB.java:1115) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.ORB.set_parameters(ORB.java:1014) at org.omg.CORBA.ORB.init(ORB.java:389) at com.ibm.CORBA.iiop.GlobalORBFactory.init(GlobalORBFactory.java:45) at com.ibm.ejs.oa.EJSORBImpl.initializeORB(EJSORBImpl.java:196) at com.ibm.ejs.oa.EJSClientORBImpl.<init>(EJSClientORBImpl.java:93) at com.ibm.ejs.oa.EJSClientORBImpl.<init>(EJSClientORBImpl.java:65) at com.ibm.ejs.oa.EJSORB.init(EJSORB.java:385) at com.ibm.ws.naming.util.Helpers.getOrb(Helpers.java:260) at com.ibm.ws.naming.util.WsnInitCtxFactory.getInitialContextInternal(WsnInitCtxFactory.java:166) at com.ibm.ws.naming.util.WsnInitCtx.getContext(WsnInitCtx.java:98) at com.ibm.ws.naming.util.WsnInitCtx.<init>(WsnInitCtx.java:79) at com.ibm.ws.naming.util.WsnInitCtxFactory.getInitialContext(WsnInitCtxFactory.java:137) at com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory.getInitialContext(WsnInitialContextFactory.java:80) at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(NamingManager.java:669) at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(InitialContext.java:247) at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(InitialContext.java:223) at javax.naming.InitialContext.<init>(InitialContext.java:179) at com.ibm.ejs.sm.client.RepositoryClient.<init>(RepositoryClient.java:241) at com.ibm.ejs.sm.client.ui.EJSConsole.<init>(EJSConsole.java:476) at com.ibm.ejs.sm.client.ui.EJSConsole.main(EJSConsole.java:1366) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Native Method) at com.ibm.ws.bootstrap.WSLauncher.main(WSLauncher.java:158) minor code: 0 completed: No] [7/24/03 9:20:05:880 GMT-03:00] 7890ed92 RepositoryCli W ADGU1069A: Check misspelled hostname or hostname case for admin server Any ideas? I have uninstalled the fixpack5 and then I started the adminserver... now, when I start the adminclient it works!! The problem is in the fixpack5 installation.. I looked for errors in JDK update but it seems to occur normally. Could someone help me, please? Thanks in advance, Fernanda

Fernanda, WebSphere's adminclient is a very fragile piece of software. I would suggest thatyou move to WebSphere V5 as quickly as possible. The web-based administration is V5 is much easier to work with. Joe

Joe, Thank you for your suggestion. Im working on a Websphere Portal Project. To install WebSphere Portal Server 4.2.1 I need to use Web App Server 4.0.5. Its an IBM restriction. In my machine I have installed the Portal Server before and this error never happened. NOw, when Im in a machine's costummer I get this error after installing the fixpack. Very weird, doesn't? I downloaded the fixpack again and now I will try to install.. hope this time it works! Fernanda.

It didn't work Same error message.. Fernanda
I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to
run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
