Hi,
Can anyone tell me if we can have WAS(WebSphere Application server) version 3.5 and version 5.0 on the same Sun machine?

Yes. You may have a port conflict or two (but between 3.5 and 5.0 I doubt it) that you'll need to resolve by changing some default ports, but yes, they can coexist.
