Can I install WAS ND now?

Hi,

I have installed WAS Base V 5.1 on one machine. It is written in sg246195 in chap 5 page 153 under "Generating the Web server plug-in installation" topic that:

"Network Deployment: If you are going to install Network Deployment and will be adding this WebSphere Application Server to a cell, you can skip this step and do it after the cell is set up."

But I did update the Web Server Plug-in before doing ND installation. Now I am interested in upgrading my Base installation to ND, but I doubt may be there will be a problem since I updated Plug-in.

Kindly suggest me.

Bye,
Viki.

upgrading my Base installation to ND

The base and ND are two separate entities. There is not an upgrade from base to ND. The base operates within a cell which in turn is administered by ND. You should be OK to install ND.

Following para is quoted from Chapter 5, topic 5.4, page 154 of "IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.1 System Management and Configuration" i.e. sg246195 redbook.

The following procedure uses our existing base installation to upgrade to a Network Deployment installation. It first addresses the installation steps, then outlines the migration steps necessary to preserve any base configuration changes made prior to the Network Deployment installation.
