I am heavely preparing for the Programmer Certificate and do the roundup game every morning before coffee. So now I have them all right. But in this situation when I press "next answer" (should be "new round") then I get a mix of the previous round score (Lucky Horseshoe etc) and a new question with only one possible answer. Is that a quirk? Compliments with your site it is a real recommendation to you.
That is a known bug. I've been fixing up the game over the last few weeks (an hour here, three hours there - I spend about four hours yesterday). Since I didn't have the source, I had to reverse compile the class files. Then I went through and replaced all of the deprecated code (the applet was written for the 1.0 JDK), this also required that the code using the JDK 1.0 event model be replaced with the 1.1 event model. I've done a great deal of refactoring. One of the improvements I made last week was to push all of the images and butons through in one HTTP request via a servlet rather than the 30 or so it does now. This makes loading time a lot shorter and makes the code a lot cleaner. Lately, I've converted all of the questions to an XML format, had the servlet parse the file and convert it to an array of Question objects and pass that along with the images. I'm currently tweaking the applet to work with that. I'm making the applet wider to make room for more details in the questions and explanations. I'm going to change the way the applet works with respect to showing the explanation after every question, right or wrong. This is instead of what the applet currently does: show a collection of answers for questions answered wrong after 36 questions. Once I have done all of that, I'll make a beta version available to see if I have fixed the known bugs and maybe introduced a few more.
