WAS Deleting EAR file when deploying

When we deploy our application, we build an ear file and then point WAS to the ear file at deployment time (via admin console). However, when we deploy, the ear file is consumed (i.e. wiped/deleted). This is undesirable and seemingly noone (including IBM) knows why this is happening. We would like to know if this is something that can be configured and/or turned off. Our workaround for the time being is to create the ear and then make a copy of it so that when the one is wiped, we have the other as a backup. Has anyone else out there had this problem?

If you want to get access to the EAR file that got consumed, you can always regenerate it with the "export" option from the admin console.

Well I don't need to regenerate the ear file again, I already said I'm currently copying and pasting it to get my backup copy. I want to know how to tell WebSphere not to delete my ear file, that's my task.

We've never seen this problem. We have 5 production, 1 test and 1 development servers running WAS 5.0.2.
