I thought it might be helpful for paying the bills and stuff. I've been meaning to do it for a while.
I have to admit that I like it too!
It would be cool if we could get some of the authors to participate in these forums.

Thanks for clearing the air for me (maybe not intentionally, but worked anyhow) about these Amazon links. I was wondering why Amazon whenever book sources are mentioned in the forums when there are cheaper sources to buy them (like bookpool). Now I know and feel very guilty about advertising bookpool in one of my postings for their cheaper prices.

No need to feel guilty. I like bookpool too. I suspect they just don't pay as much for advertisers, which could be why their prices are generally lower.
Paul- dunno if you've noticed, but Bill Brogden actually has been posting fairly often in Programmer Certification of late, being very helpful. I haven't seen any of the other authors posting, though I do have an e-mail from Khalid Mughal where he mentions that we're "doing a great job at www.javaranch.com".

I like bookpool too. But they don't have any affiliate program. Amazon doesn't have the lowest prices, but they do have decent prices. And they have the affiliate program which makes me want to have links to them!
Bill has been posting to lots of forums. I've offered him a moderatorship, but he's too busy. His next book is on servlets and he let me write a chapter in it! He's a very cool guy. He even knows about The Tick!

I agree. Here's the link: http://zeroturnaround.com/jrebel - it saves me about five hours per week
